PLYMOUTH, MA., January 14, 2010—TandemSeven, a consulting firm that designs, architects and builds world-class business applications and portals, today announced Howard Hughes Medical Institute, a long-time TandemSeven client, has been named in Nielsen Norman Group's Intranet Design Annual for the World’s Ten Best Intranets of 2010.
HHMI partnered with TandemSeven to design and develop the MyHHMI intranet portal. TandemSeven’s team helped HHMI move from a static and outdated site to a modern, clean, dynamic and personalized enterprise portal.
"Providing sensitive information to a wide variety of users, the HHMI intranet uses personalization to restrict access to information and allows customization so the site can reflect users’ own priorities. Shared calendars and project pages make the site an excellent collaborative tool, where employees can share resources, documents, and information necessary to complete day-to-day work," said usability expert Jakob Nielsen, principal of Nielsen Norman Group.
The achievement marks the second time in three years one of TandemSeven's clients has been honored by Nielsen Norman Group. "This accomplishment is a testament to TandemSeven's foundation of design and technology working in tandem to achieve superior user experiences," said Stephen Wyman, TandemSeven's Vice President of Technology. "Having an integrated design and technology team helped keep the designs grounded. Designing not only with end users in mind, but also the technologies that supported the implementation of the designs, was critical to our success.”
